Maddy Knight

Field Officer

Being born on the road in Western Australia, Maddy's adventurous spirit has been obvious from the start.

After years of advocating for climate science in public policy, Maddy decided the best next step was to be part of the teams of people making that science happen and started a degree in Environmental Science at the University of Canberra.

Hardly being able to wait to be in the industry, Maddy made contact with a Mycology lab that introduced to the concept of eDNA and was excited to learn more. Through enthusiastic persistence Maddy started volunteering at EcoDNA and wad employed by the team in late 2021.  Maddy looks forward to a career in environmental genetics, getting out for fieldwork whenever possible and exploring all this career path has to offer.

Outside of the lab, Maddy loves getting outside with the family at any opportunity through hiking, cycling, camping, foraging or just a leisurely walk. Before coming to University Maddy was quite at home in a commercial kitchen and still loves whipping up strange and tasty treats.
